House Concert on Friday, April 24th

On Friday, April 24th, the Jenkins will host a truly unique trio - Hanneke Cassel, Natalie Haas and Keith Murphy. All three have performed in our living room before, but this is the first time we will have the pleasure of hearing them play together. This is a not-to-be-missed evening. The New Lost Faculty Ramblers on Saturday, March 7th

Bob, Fran, Kate, Sandy, Steve & Tim-The New Lost Faculty Ramblers-and a few surprise guests-will be singing and playing their favorite tunes next Saturday, March 7th, here at the Jenkins. Their lush harmonies and colorful instrumentation yield a unique, organic sound. After seeing us warm-up for many of the other performers at the house concerts, members of the audience have requested that we give a concert of our own. This is it folks. Laurel Massé to be featured on February 21st

Very few artists can claim to have started their career in music at the top, but as a founding member of the universally-acclaimed Manhattan Transfer, that is exactly what Laurel Massé did. With her lush, expressive voice, absolute pitch, flawless diction and ready wit, the statuesque redhead left her indelible mark on the group. “I have never forgotten what I learned in my years with Manhattan Transfer,” says Laurel, and I will always cherish the thrill of being part of that wonderful sound.” She toured internationally with the Transfer for seven years, recording four albums (since certified gold and platinum) and the movie soundtrack of Just a Gigolo, which starred David Bowie, Kim Novak, and Marlene Dietrich in her final screen appearance. Laurel also made numerous television appearances; her favorites include Mary Tyler Moore’s 1974 television special Mary’s Incredible Dream, and in the Manhattan Transfer Show on CBS TV in 1975.

Chris and Edgar at Carnegie Hall

Congratulations to Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer on their Carnegie Hall debut. The spirit of Bach was smiling last Wednesday night as these musical road warriors carried his legacy into the 21st century. Their original tunes were informed by Bach and ranged from lyrical to pyrotechnic-Rabbit Cake being my favorite. The duo was joined by special guest, violinist, Mark O'Connor. All of us at the concert burst with pride for our friends Chris and Edgar.
